My family traveled all over the United States when I was a child. To the point that it felt wrong if I spent the whole year in Utah. As an adult, thanks to my friend Karen, I have been seeing the rest of the world. We went to Hawaii (finally a state my parents hadn’t been to), South Africa, Iceland, and Norway. I took hundreds of photographs everywhere I went, and I have been using them as references ever since.
Every painting in my show is of a place I’ve been to or things I’ve seen. Animals are still my main focus, but I love seeing new things. Like how the sun never sets in the summer in Svalbard, Norway. How the moon is upside down in South Africa.
How lovely Europe is.
